Over the course of a multi-year engagement, VIVA worked with the San Mateo County Human Services Agency (HSA) to develop and implement their 2015-2020 Strategic Plan.
Through a comprehensive strategic planning process, which consisted of gathering perspectives from Agency leadership and staff, community partners, County leadership, and customers, VIVA developed an Agency-wide plan documenting the vision, mission, values, and goals that drive the organization.
Next, VIVA supported HSA to develop branch-level plans that helped foster a holistic approach to providing services and a shared vision across the Agency. Through surveys, focus groups, and facilitated planning sessions, VIVA engaged stakeholders from across the agency to ensure that each branch developed implementable strategies and metrics for success.
The resulting strategic plans reflect the Agency’s new, more holistic approach to serving San Mateo County’s residents and increase the capacity of each branch to contribute to the Agency’s vision.
